The String Quartet : from Refus global to Today

Dialogue on the Plateau : Two

In preparation for the concert  entitled «Two» on February 16, the musicians of the Molinari Quartet invite you into the worlds of composers John Rea and Dimitri Shostakovich.

During this workshop, you will hear excerpts from Quartets Nos. 10 and 13 by Shostakovich as well as excerpts from Objets perdus and Objets perçus by John Rea.

Two composers, two quartets from each one. Dive into the worlds of composers Dimitri Shostakovich and John Rea with the musicians of the Molinari Quartet.

Montreal composer John Rea wrote Objets perdus in 1992 for the Kronos Quartet and to celebrate his 80th anniversary, the Molinari Quartet has commissioned him a new work Objets perçus that will receive its premiere during this concert.

Dimitri Shostakovich's cycle of 15 string quartets is full of richness and the Molinaris chose two lesser known works for this concert, Nos. 10 and 13.
