Dialogue on the Plateau: The Quartet According to Webern

The Molinari Quartet presents the full quartet cycle of Viennese composer Anton Webern.

With the help of the musicians of the Molinari Quartet, discover the captivating path of Webern's writing. From post-romantism to serialism, from chromatism to atonality his quartets offer a large variety of colours and have opened the way to serialism.

To prepare for the March 22 concert of the complete cycle of Webern's quartets, come discuss the works with the musicians of the Molinari Quartet. They will play excerpts, give musical examples and analyse the works.

The Molinari Quartet continues its tradition of playing full cycles of string quartets by one same composer. This concert will feature the six string quartets by Viennese composer Anton Webern.

Follow the fascinating path of this incredible master of the Second Viennese School.

A conference on Webern and his work will by given by Jean Portugais at 6:30 pm, an hour before the concert.

Here‘s a musical journey into the very heart of the sculptures and paintings of women artists that have been ignored for too long!
Works by Debussy, Tailleferre and Heggie.

The Molinari Quartet is pleased to present its second concert of the season of the series «Music to See» held at the Molinari Foundation, 3290 Ste. Catherine street East, Montréal.

The programme of this concert will feature short works for string quartet as well as the last two movements of Arnold Schoenberg's String Quartet No.2 which demands a soprano soloist. The young emerging artist Odile Portugais will join the musicians for this work.

Marie Hubert – Fille du Roy

This concert brings to life the folklores of Quebec and France using song to recount the experiences of Marie Hubert, one of Filles du Roy - the King's daughters -  intended to help populate New France.

Soprano Karina Gauvin is accompanied by arrangements for strings, winds, harp and piano by Claude Lapalme played by the Molinari Quartet,  Pentaèdre, Pierre McLean (piano), Kyra Charlton (harp), and Étienne Lafrance (double bass).

Dialogue on the Plateau: Winners of the 9th Molinari Quartet International Composition Competition

Prior to the Winner’s Concert at the Conservatoire on September 27th, the Molinari Quartet welcomes the four winners of its Ninth International Composition Competition to the Dialogue at the Plateau series.
During this Dialogue, they will present their work to the public and will discuss with the musicians and the audience. The Quartet will play large excerpts of their winning composition.

The Dialogues are workshops that enable the public to hear the works, get an analysis of them, ask questions to the musicians and composers as well as giving the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the music.

Molinari: From Painting to Music

The Molinari Quartet marks the 20th anniversary of Guido Molinari's death, performing works inspired by his paintings. Also featured is the final quartet of Anton Webern, Molinari’s favourite composer. Screenings of the great Quebec painter’s works will accompany the concert.
