Music and Nature

As part of the series Ensembles en résidence of the Montreal Conservatory, the Molinari Quartet presents the concert Music and Nature. From Canadian composer R. Murray Schafer, the musicians will play the beautiful String Quartet No. 2, Waves, which depicts the sounds of the waves of the Atlantic and Pacific oceans on the Canadian coasts. A New York resident since many years, Toronto composer and saxophinst Quinsin Nachoff wrote his String Quartet No. 1 for the Molinari Quartet. Contemporary jazz, atonality and complex rhythms make this a fscinating work. The musicians will also perform Dimitri Shostakovich’s Quartets Nos. 11 and 12, works that are full of colours, passion and magnetism.
