Dialogue on the Plateau Folkloric Influences

East European music is often influenced by regional folk music. Bartók and Janáček’s string quartets are good examples of this folk influence with their dancing momentum.

The musicians will also perfom Italian composer Giacinto Scelsi’s String Trio. This work will be recorded shortly to complete the CD box set of the complete string quartets by Scelsi on ATMA Classic label.

This workshop enables the public to familiarize itself with the quartet repertoire by direct exchanges with the musicians. The Quartet plays excerpts, comments and analyses the works and gives historical and musical references. This Dialogue will discuss the works mentioned above that will be performed on December 10 at the Conservatoire.
