The Molinari Quartet pursues its exploration of the great quartet cycles of the twentieth century with the complete cycle of Hungarian composer György Kurtág’s string quartets. The Quartet According to Kurtag will be held on Friday December 5 2014 starting at 7 pm at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal. A pre-concert talk by professor and composer Jean Lesage will be held at 7 pm and is entitled Aphorisme et intertextualité dans la musique de György Kurtág.
The concert will start at 8 pm.
In addition to Jean Lesage’s conference before the concert, the public is invited to attend the Dialogue at the Chapelle on Saturday November 29 at 2 pm during which the members of the Molinari Quartet will discuss, analyse and play excerpts of Kurtag’s quartets. The Chapelle is located at 100, Sherbrooke St East and the admission is free.
