The Molinari Quartet is pleased to announce the results of its Ninth International Competition for Composition for string quartet.
During its concert on Friday September 27 2024 at the Montreal Conservatory of Music, the Molinari Quartet announced the winners of its Ninth International Composition Competition for String Quartet. The winners were chosen among 111 candidates aged under 40 and the jury – composed of the members of the Molinari Quartet and composers Michel Gonneville and Nicolas Gilbert – met in May to evaluate the 111 original scores received from 33 countries.
Following the performance and deliberation by the jury, the following prizes were given :
1st Prize: Taeki Kim, from South Korea, for the work Reflection / Iridescent
2nd Prize: Paul Novak, from the United States, for the work Gardensongs
3rd prize ex-aequo: Joel Rust from the United Kingdom for the work cool water do not drink
Liliya Ugay from Uzbekistan / United States for the work Hopper Quartet
