SUMMARY:A Tribute to R. Murray Schafer
DESCRIPTION:On Friday October 15 at 7 :30 pm\, the Molinari Quartet will pay tribute to the late R. Murray Schafer at the Montreal Conservatory. The musicians will perform 4 of the 5 string quartets Schafer wrote for the Molinari. \nYou will hear the incredible Quartet no.7 with soprano obligato\, with the wonderful soprano Aline Kutan. With full staging\, quadraphonic sound\, movement of the musicians throughout the hall\, this quartet shatters the conventional string quartet in all means. Colored shirts and sculptures by Guido Molinari make a special setting for this unique and beautiful music. \nWinter Birds\, Schafer’s 10th quartet depicts the sounds of the birds and wolves that Schafer heard from his farmhouse in Ontario in the winter of 2005. The 12th Quartet was commissioned thanks to the generosity of Phyllis Lambert and is a work of great lyricism and beauty and\, as always with Schafer’s music\, it also has a strong rhythmic vitality. The very short Quartet no.13\, subtitled Alzheimer’s Masterpiece is Schafer’s last work and was written just after he received his diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease. \nThe Molinari Quartet will also play a 10 minute excerpt of Schafer’s Labyrinth which combines musicians in live performance of the quartets with original motion picture images that will be projected on a large screen. The film is made and produced by Barbara Willis-Sweete. \nProgramme :  \nR. Murray Schafer : Quatuors nos 7-10-12 et 13. Extrait de Schafer’s Labyrinth \n  \nThis concert is presented before a public and is also live-streamed. \nTickets for live concert : 11\,50$\, 21\,50$\, 26\,50$\nFor seated tickets in the hall\nTickets for livestream: 15$\nFor live-stream tickets

SUMMARY:Concert intime : En toute liberté!
DESCRIPTION:En toute liberté! features two works that use the controlled aleatory technique. Even though all the notes and rhythms are precisely marked\, Boucourechliev and Joachim’s quartets give the musicians a certain freedom. These works are unique because they are always a little different at each performance. \n  \nOther than the Quatuor III by André Boucourechliev and Quatuor (1997) by Otto Joachim\, the Molinari Quartet will perform Kelly-Marie Murphy’s energetic Oblique Light. With a special thought for R. Murray Schafer\, who passed away in August 2021\, the musicians will end the concert with his 13th quartet\, Alzheimer’s Masterpiece. \nGeneral admission 20$. Payment by Interac or Paypal at qm@quatuormolinari.qc.ca or at the door. \nLimited seating therefore reservations are mandatory : qm@quatuormolinari.qc.ca\, or 514-527-5515 or Facebook messenger. \nVaccine passeport and photo ID are required for entry. \nThis concert is made possible thanks to a grant from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec
