SUMMARY:Music to See: Molinari / Mondrian : musical inspirations
DESCRIPTION:The Molinari Quartet\, in collaboration with the Guido Molinari Foundation\, presents a special event as part of the “Music to See” series. \nIn preparation for the October 27 concert at Salle Bourgie\, composers Denis Gougeon (Quebec) and Wilbert Bulsink (Netherlands) will discuss their process in creating new string quartets for the Molinari Quartet\, which they produced in collaboration with Dutch video artist Udo Prinsen. Discover how the paintings of Guido Molinari and Piet Mondrian became sources of inspiration for the composers\, and how their new works\, in turn\, became the inspiration for the creation of artistic video. \nThe musicians will perform excerpts from Wilbert Bulsink’s String Quartet No. 2 as well as Denis Gougeon’s «Figures sonores»\, new works that they will premiere on October 27 at Salle Bourgie. \nGuests: Denis Gougeon\, Wilbert Bulsink\, Udo Prinsen\, Marie-Ève Beaupré \nSince seating is limited\, tickets priced at $20 must be purchased in advance via the following link

SUMMARY:Molinari / Mondrian : inspirations musicales
DESCRIPTION:This concert is an artistic dialogue between Quebec and the Netherlands: string quartets by two Quebecers meet those of two Dutch composers\, while paintings by Molinari and Mondrian dance and transform themselves to the sound of their music\, thanks to Dutch video artist Udo Prinsen. \nThe Molinari Quartet is delighted to be part of the 16th concert season at Salle Bourgie. On October 27\, the concert “Molinari / Mondrian: Musical Inspirations” will draw parallels between two great painters\, Molinari and Mondrian\, as well as two Dutch composers\, Janssen and Bulsink\, and two Quebecers\, John Rea and Denis Gougeon. The four works will transform the painters’ canvases through dynamic projections by artist Udo Prinsen. \nA pre-concert talk will take place at 6:30 p.m. \n  \nJohn Rea (1944) : Objets perdus (1991) \nWilbert Bulsink (1983) : Quartet no 2 (world premiere) * \nGuus Janssen (1951) : Quartet no 2 Streepjes (1981) \nDenis Gougeon (1951) : Figures sonores (world premiere) ** \n\nSoir Arbre Rouge (1908-10)\nComposition avec un large plan Rouge\, Jaune\, Noir\, Gris et Bleu (1921)\nBroadway Boogie woogie (1942)\n\n  \n*Commissioned by the Molinari Molinari thanks to the support of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation \n** Commissioned by the Molinari Molinari thanks to the support of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec \n
